Iron Horses (Oil Rig)
Batman Refinery that was put into operation in 1955, is the first refinery of Turkey with its capacity of processing 330 thousand tons of raw petroleum annually. Batman Refinery processes approximately 4% of total raw petroleum processing capacity of Turkey. In addition to refining units, there are auxiliary units such as steam plant, power plant and oxygen, barrel and tin factories. Old-style pumps on oil wells, in other words, called as iron horses by people, are still going on to drill out petroleum.
