The architectural remnants in Büyük Senem Mığar Village that is located 11 km north of Soğmatar, and the houses carved on rock just like in Cappadocia, point out that the region was an important center in the first periods of Christianity. The three-floored monumental remnant is located on a hill in the village, which is thought to have been a monastery or a palace. There are churches carved in rocks on the north, which are estimated to have been built in Byzantine Period.
